KONAMI missed the chance to allow players to reset inventory with gems (So that players don't need to wait for 8 hours). What a waste.

That's the point.
It's not about the players, but how KONAMI can profit from this.

It should be gems because players would have less gems to spend on boxes, thus forcing them to spend real money.

When most of the cards in the Trader are trash? Doesn't matter, as long as players are willing to spend gems to refresh.
