Konami has destroyed the myth around these 3 powerful cards...
After with RA they try to fix it with sphere and phoenix cards. Too late and too slow, 3 divine beasts which require 3 tributes with non partial or full protection, meanwhile konami released almost invincible archetypes. A disaster. Obelisk only has been partially respected with the untarget-ability, but, I remember, they are beasts which require 3 tributes. It should be worth it.
Let's be real... Slifer's the only one that could have maybe been improved to the point of being useful without being absurd. Ra's power in the anime was primarily in the fact it had so many effects, not that any one of them was strong on its own. That obviously couldn't happen in the TCG. Ra could've been better, but it never would have been GOOD.
Except obelisk, it's not worth it play a divine beast. Look towards other archetypes you have easy combo in order to reproduce an instant 🔥 move in 1 turn. This is unacceptable. Nobody want the instant 🔥 move of Ra. People wants play the divine beasts, and for that, monsters must be partially protected from effects traps, spells etc. Removable yes, but hardly... We talk about a DIVINE BEAST.
They weren't even really immune to effects in the anime either, though. They were fully affected by cards like Nightmare Steelcage, Command Silencer, Class System, Ground Erosion and (presumably) Blast Held by a Tribute, and quite a few others lasted for a turn (like Spellbinding Circle and Necromancy).
Cards in later series like the Nordic Gods and Sacred Beasts had no protection at all.
The real issue here is why the Egyptian Gods are so unbalanced.
Obelisk has targeting immunity that the other two don't have.
Ra cannot be special summoned unlike the other two, even though one of Yami Marik's main strategy with it was to special summon it with monster reborn.
Nobody want the complete immunity for these cards. People want balancing and respect.
After, Konami releases swarm archetype with special summons, and 1 turn 🔥 move or invincible combos.
Divine beasts are olds and must be summoned by tribute, otherwise at the ending turn, to GY. Dedalus effect, for example, is much stronger and it can summoned easily.
Calling a god card isn't a big deal.
