Yeah this is as linear as dark magician decks

There is a slight difference tho.
Monster that has quick backrow removing effect on the field could dealt with Dark magic Circle, while it is impossible to deal with PSoD without being banished. The example would be Masked hero blast and vendread with houndhorde material.

Or you could just use cyclone/lance before playing your other cards
