Introducing balance nerfs and new OP cards to change the meta immediately before some major competition (KC cup) is the most 🔥 practice I have ever seen.
This is definitely done for profit.
I played some other Trading card games with real E-sports competitions
Never the gameplay was changed immediately before the start of the competition, only after its end.
"With $99 you have been dominating the ladder for 3 months. But the time has come for us to nerf the old stuffs. You just have to spend another $99 to get the new stuffs, and you will dominate the ladder for another 3 months"
I don't think it's 🔥. There isn't really a huge reward for them. (The only major reward being a chance to fight for a spot in the World Championships.) I wouldn't be surprised if Konami values their ability to use them for testing purposes more than the standings of the tournaments. There aren't a lot of other opportunities to encourage a ton of competitive players to play at once.
Duel Links is a great game nonetheless. But reprinting useless cards and putting garbage like Grappler and Monster Egg just to fill 180 number, while they could just cut the number to become 100 and release mini-box instead, it's all about profit
Nope, I would really glad if Konami stop releasing main and mini box but keep Structure Deck instead. It's P2W but at least you will not pay for garbage cards
