I seem to have found a bug with this card and the Malus Token from The Golden Apples. The token was at 2300/2300 and was targeted by Half Shut during my battle step. The ATK was directly halved, but was reset to 0 at the end of the turn rather than back to 2300.
The same thing happens with Cerberus and Piercing Moray. Seems like any monster that has the ability to permanently gain atk gets reset to its original atk after being targeted by this card.
