No. If you want to summon normal monster, such as Dark Magician, you can use Dark Effigy as a 2 tributes in 1.

Yes, they list the other cards at the end of the article. Also anon, DM can be summoned by either Coston OR Effigy. Coston is more general while Effigy is specific.

Kaiser Sea Horse for the light attribute monsters, unshaven angler for the water attributes, Whirlwind Prodigy for wind attributes.

Double Coston > Dark Effigy.
Double Coston 1700/1650 Dark Effigy 1500/0.
Double Coston is more generic while effigy is more specific. Dark Effigy is only for Normal Monsters.

Well, nowadays tribute summons is kind of super inefficient compared to special summons, fusion, synchro etc..
Even if you only need 1 tribute.

Usually my opponents tribute summon only to get rid of Lava golem.

So, why is a card like this an Ultra rare ?
I don't understand.

Uhh, I wasn't there at the time, so maybe.

But it makes it look like Konami is too stupid to plan the strength and usefulness of each single cards that they release.
