I'm 99% sure the ODL had ALLWAYS required the fisrt deadalus to be summoned. What happen in the past was a print error on the card, where they forget the summoning conditions. ODL was never meant to be summon whitout tribute
Unfortunately for you, that 99% is completely wrong as I STILL have one of the 1st prints for this card & it never required a the 1st Daedalus to be summoned. It was the same in the video games at the time for about 1.5 ~ 2 years before they changed it to be similar to Darkness Dragon. If it WAS never meant to be that way, then they botched it & let it go for a few years before actually fixing it.
Yep yep. I believe they really changed it because --
1: It threw off focus from Daedalus as it had a way more devastating effect.
2: Define Overshadowed > See #1~
But yea, it was more likely an unintentional misprint that they didn't fix until the WC was over that year...or so. ('cause I DEFINITELY was never getting cards when they 1st came out, lol)
ACtually it always did. When the card was first printed in the TCG there was a printing error. The first few lines of it's text were missing. Upper Deck actually had a mail in deal where if you gave them your miss print they'll mail you the corrected card later during that time help fix the issue.
The original Japanese version and the current English is the correct printing.
