Watch them f**k this one up and destroy the hype for this world. I’m sorry, but because every one of Zane’s events have been complete garbage (with his unlock being the worst offender), I’m just going to assume the worst for the future of this game. 5Ds will be the last chance to prove me wrong.
Gx was a good series and if you watched all 4 seasons you'll see just how good it really is. It's better than the nostalgia I have for DM because the story sucks 🔥 and a lot of the archs are boring af. Gx has much better character development
It's a weak story regardless (and doesn't really change a whole lot between the two, the dub just makes it a little harder to follow). It essentially just boils down to attempts to harness duel energy causing an apocalypse and the misguided attempts of the last few survivors in the future going back to try and stop it. (Most of whom aren't very interesting characters.)
DM's story literally just boils down to "weak boy finds ancient artifact and gets a king of games as companion, said king is defeating opponents along the way to regain his memories", so what's your point?
DM also has a weak story. (Not helped by the fact it doesn't have a consistent villain throughout. I guess Bakura KINDA is, though he isn't super-relevant until the end, and his motives aren't great.) GX's are probably the strongest (I'd consider Sartorius, Yubel and Nightshroud/Darkness all better villains than anyone from 5D's or DM.). Zexal's, while a little cliche, is OK.
Arc-V's story was fairly good for the most part, but the ultimate villain was pretty uninteresting. VRAINS seems much more plot-heavy from what I've seen, but I admittedly haven't watched much.
