Actually in the anime it was far more overpowered. There was no limit to how many times you could draw a card and instead of just dealing 500 damage, the monster could simply just attack. So like if a monster had 1500ATK and made a direct attack, they'd have 2500 lp left. If their opponent got 2 more monster cards, the game would be over.
