Lately, I've seen a lot of this deck in the KC Cup, so this post is my public service for the day, in hopes people will learn how to beat this deck. I want to see people stop playing it. Welcome to the top 5 cards/strategies for beating the Parasite Burn Deck.
#5 is 4-Stared Ladybug of Doom. Obviously, the most annoying part about this deck is how it plays Jade Insect Whistle to take away your draw and Burn you significantly. Ladybug isn't very strong against this deck, but putting it on top will delay the burning at least.
#4 De-Spell. This deck uses 3 Mask of the Accursed to freeze any monster it doesn't like, and burn at the same time. If this deck is a problem, consider De-Spell in addition to the Twisters likely in your deck already.
#3 Trap Jammer. Whether it's Windstorm of Etaqua, Blast Held by a Tribute, or Mirror Wall, this card stops them all.
#4 Reverse Trap. Often, the Burn player will wait for you to fill your Monster Zones, and then Summon Gyaku-Gire Panda to ATK Parasite Paracide for even more damage. Reverse Trap, in addition to Mirror Wall, can make the hit easier to bear, and you will get rid of that worthless insect in the process.
#5 Play more than 20 cards. The Parasite deck thrives off its opponent consistently drawing Paracide from their deck. An obvious counter is to make that less consistent via a larger deck. This isn't as bad as it might seem, provided you have enough powerful staples to fill the void spots, and can buy you time to beat them down before drawing the Parasite.
Those are my experiences; feel free to add your own ideas on beating this deck, because I really hate it.
4 star lady bug is useless against parasite deck. Having too many despell and twister in your deck will give you a dead hand. Having more than 20 cards won't let you draw the cards you need fast in time.
I had no problem handling parasite deck with my beatdown deck. These type of deck's strength is also its weakness. It relies too much on parasite to be drawn. And gyaku panda doesn't well against 1700 beaters that are usually combined mirrior wall or michi or equip spell.
However, i do have to say a lock down deck with parasite is scary. Any attack lowering cards greatly boosts panda's pressure
My deck is filled with 1700 to 1800 beaters. But the problem is that parasite deck will lock you with Mask of the Accursed. Still screwed either way. That's why it's almost impossible to counter parasite decks. It's friggin annoying.
As someone who has been primarily playing Weevil during KC cup, I would say that Ladybug is one of the most annoying things you can bring. It's better than making your deck more than 20 cards, since Whistle still brings the parasites to the top, and it lowers your chance to draw counter to Mask of the Accursed. Use Keith's Switcheroo to send back ladybug, making Whistle a dead draw entirely.
I've been maining weevil since i got gardna and 2 coccoons and im tired of seeing all these decks glorify the jade insect whistles. more times than not i prefer the skill to just slow the 20 card decks down while you win. Its not about puttin parasite on top its a about controlling the game and thats how i got to top 5k with a very low budget weevil deck.
