The die only has the numbers 1, 2 and 3 on it, and it's not really physically possible to make a 3-sided die in the first place. A 6-sided with each number repeated once is by far the most elegant solution.
That's cos u're only considering a dice as the only means. A spinner is the first obvious choice I can already think of, which goes with the board-game vibe.
