One protects your monster by forcing Direct Attacks, the other makes sure you take NO (battle)damage as long as you have a monster on the field. A combo that wouldn't work in normal duels...
1. I doubt you've even tried it yet. 2. This one would be considerably much more consistent as it doesn't rely on 1 monster you can't summon outright w/out help.
