Jaden has much greater cardpool potential than Marik. Marik has basically just Holding Arms, Holding Legs and Metal Reflect Slime, and the former two only really fit Yami Marik anyway.

Do I think we needed another Jaden? No. But it is, in the grand scheme of things, a much better way to distribute new cards and skills than a Spunky Jaden event with all-new rewards.

Also, realistically, Yubel-Jaden is more different than pre-Yubel Jaden than Marik was from Yami Marik from a plot standpoint, lol. Marik's role as a villain didn't really change much after he lost his sanity, aside from being more sadistic while doing what he was doing anyway.
