This card can't be destroyed by battle but has no other protection. Forbidden dress is exactly the other way around. It's some nice synergy but don't expect it to become meta.
Technically, Dress can be used to counter Karma because it prevents the card from being targeted. But in reality, it's more likely that your opponent chains Karma right to your summon and then it's already too late to chain Dress. So I agree that Lance is better.
The thing with forbidden dress is it can't remove the effect of already targeted card. Meaning if your opponent use something like cyber slash and you chain your monster with this card, your monster STILL got bounced into hand.
Which is why you must listen to marvel movie fan and use newly released un-discounted UR cards like book of money instead of discounted cards like forbidden dress lol.
