And follow-up: what exactly is the benefit of using the effect to grab a high level monster in this pre-XYZ/pre-Link format? The effects are negated (see Debris effect) and using Beatdown would give you at most a 1400 “beater” if you increased Debris level (i.e. Synchro Boost equip spell) and had another lvl 5+ on the field.
Fair point on summoning Trident or Azure-Eyes, but wouldn’t that only be a level 5 or 6 (can’t remember exactly what level Trident is)? All the listed cards like Yubel and Deskbot 009 don’t add up to those levels. Inverse Universe was also a fair point
