Here's how I'd fix this unbalanced second turn win state of the game: Make it so just one monster zone can be used by each players at the beginning. Then, everytime at draw phase of players, the turn player can choose between draw a card (like normal) or open up a new monster zone. I know this would slow the game down, but I rather have a slow game that not have any chance of play when opponent could swarm and everything in their first turn.

That's a terrible idea. The duels under your idea will be a race to see who can get their zones unlocked first. Basically, all your plan will do is change nothing for the better while making things worse.

Yea but they wont have many cards at hand. Thus still restricted their unfair combo advantage. So it would be pretty balanced.

OTK is unfair only when a lowly F2P plays against a proper human being who had been diligently buying cards. As everyone should.

When a real man plays against another one this poses no issue as they are both respectable people who respectably buy cards.

Can't win then buy more cards as the game was designed to.

That won't stop search cards. In fact, your rule will probably increase the usage of them. I rather take the current state of DL than this idea.

To the Anon who asked me those two questions:

1. It's a freemium game.

2. Idk if that's true or not but keep in mind freemium players have access to better cards due to money.

Like many others here, I think it's a shame a skilled player with beginner decks can't win against less skilled players with expensive cards.

This is the main reason why I can't get my friends to try the game.

There's also such thing as baby steps.

No matter how skilled you are, because actual beginner players exist, a new account is never expected to immediately go attempt to KoG.

In other words, anyone with a beginner deck is not supposed to immediately run into Ranked.

To the Anon referring to less skilled players who use skilled decks:

While I know this game isn't balanced well (BE, even with a scratch from the banlist, is still winning). Part of that reason is that Konami allows structure decks like BE and Stardust to be made relatively quickly, provided that they use cash. If any of your friends is F2P, then getting a good deck will take longer for them.

Yea, but we still have ban list. The search and draw cards, or even unfair stall cards would fill the ban list to fit the mechanic or rule, right?

I don't know. I just thing slower game is fairer than one-way-designed OTK

This is called speed duel format, not slow duel format.

Speed Duel is about the half life points from tcg, half size of field, with additional skills strategy.

Speed Duel is not about how fast you screw opponents. Tcg can do that fast too.
