Harpie: Deck Recipe [Mar 24]

Anonymous
Can anyone explain why when I use a spell/trap my opponent in a mirror match can activate their Cyber slash Harpie return to the hand effect and I can't? It is stupid
Anoymous
did you set SELF CHAIN to ON?
Anoymous
If you haven't, you better do

Yes, ON

I want but it just doesn't give me the choice to do anything, my opponent is faster than me.

Yeah, be careful with activating spell/trap cards in a mirror match up. Whoever does it first basically loses (if cyber slash is on the board)

that's called chain block.

The ruling is the following: If both players can chain something, then the opponent is always prioritized.

Another ruling: "When" effects can miss the timing. If you miss the chance to respond to a spell/trap immediately, you're not allowed to do it later in the same chain.
Anoymous
The unwritten rule of yugioh is everytime we activate a card, the foe will have a chance to respond. Like, you must ask the foe "do you have any respond?" If they are not, then you can proceed.

In your case, you activate s/t, opponent respond by chaining C-Slash, and then you can respond to his C-Slash (that's why your C-Slash cannot be activated because now you are responding to a monster eff)
Anoymous
I think you miss the timing, Harpie Cyber Slash has "when" on its effect, so it can be disrupted with other effect when you don't use its effect right away. You must learn the difference between "when" and "if" because it's so important.
