Because that guy was using her the wrong way. Only an idiot would wait for you to attack her. The right way is to use her as a target for Sage and bring out 2 BEWD at once.
Except by now blue eyes have multiple ways to clear opponent's field in a turn. They are t1 and if you underestimate them just because you happened to face a single bad player you'll never reach kog.
Reaching kog is very easy if you just do 20 duels a day. You only need luck if you have a win rate higher than 0%. It's very simple probability theory.
Blue eyes main strength actually floating and dodging target effect, and if you want fast version, play 3 card of consonance and 3 white stone ver, but yeah what you use from the new box only the synchros (and michael). I think maiden and sage actually better on neo beud deck but still somewhat slow
