Quick question:
I was using a Slifer Deck to obtain the extra coins in a duel, and I put 'Precious Cards From Beyond in the Deck' thinking it would be a boost to Slifer after summoning him.
I tributed the 3 monsters to summon him (since the card says 2 or more, then draw two cards) but it did not activate the card and Slifer was stuck with 1000 ATK points for the one card left in my hand. Any reason why it did not work or is the summoning condition for Slifer not considered a tribute summon? I just think wording here might be slightly different.
I had the card on the field before the summon. So is there a difference between tributing the 3 monsters to normal summon the card vs an actual tribute summon? That's why I'm thinking it did not work.
According to when someone asked this on Reddit a few months back, "Egyptian God's are Normal Summon not Tribute". Can't confirm if that is true atm, but it might explain it.

That's what I'm thinking. The 3 tributes are a summoning requirement to conduct the normal summon vs it being a 3 tribute, tribute summon. It's kind of misleading, but live and learn I guess.
A Tribute Summon is a Normal Summon that you Tribute monsters for. (Or use Tribute Burial for I guess.) The reason you can't use the effect of Precious Cards from Beyond is because Slifer's effect prevents effects being activated in response to its Normal Summon, which includes your own.
When Normal Summoned, cards and effects cannot be activated. This is the reason. The 3 EGD cancel all effects when they are normal summonned using 3 tirbutes.
