Let us be honest though, the reason no one complained about Contact Fusion was because the main Deck was Neos and it required certain cards to keep monsters on the field. The second being VWXYZ, and who ran that back in the day as the main focus even?
XYZ and Neos Spacians bowed down to the gods of Contact Fusion, Gladiator Beasts, which caused many a booty pains back in the day......at least when Gyzarus hit the scene.
