Fun how Shiranui (before being shiranuized), were the incarnation of F2P player. Right now I see only exclusive P2W broken deck (in ranked duels I mean), which ruins the game.
It ain't that expensive if you look into it; a player should have started collecting staples since day one either with dream tickets or the 50% off sales. It's not like someone opens those old boxes for Shiranui alone
I said it wasn't THAT EXPENSIVE
It is advice to use dream tickets on staples, we got 4 this year, if we only use the SR ones there are 2 traps, Raigeki break is in the same box as shiranui, some successful variants also ran u. providence. There you have a budget line up of 8 traps, traps that have proven to work well in shiranui as shown in tournament results.
So now your argument is about te budget alternatives. Yes those could be somehow cheap but let's face it optimal shiranui is expensive running 10-12 UR traps some from OLD boxes. Off course a lot of decks becomes cheap for older player but try to start a new account now and you'' see what they mean about Shiranui being expensive.

By the way if you're the OP, you did not talked about day 1 players right. My reply is for that comment that it's not expensive as day 1 players should have collected most UR backrows now. That's why I said lets assume all are day 1 players then shiranui is not expensive.
actually, yes. said boxes are too incompatible with other decks.
konami doesn't have any skill when it comes to putting all related cards in the same boxes so that players don't have to open many different boxes to save gems.
