Well like Kaiba, Reiji/Declan runs a company, has a young sibling, a jerk of a father, 3 copies of a 3000/2500 stat ace monster and is pretty cold (although Reiji is nicer).
He also defeat the main protagonist near the end of the first season, and that victory never gets avenged by the main protagonist until the last duel in the series, in the final season.
The only rival better than him in that regard is Kaito, who never gets beaten by Yuma.
Reiji Akaba should have been the main protagonist of Arc-V instead of Yuya. Same as how Edo Phoenix should have been GX's main protagonist instead of Judai.
What if there was a series where a Yu-boy is an antagonist and the Kaiba clone has to stop him (I know Arc V did this with Yuya, but he's not the one who is evil, Zarc is).
A protagonist without a lack of personality (in general) can work if he or she are bada ss enough to make up for it. Imo, Yusei succeeded in that goal for me (despite his near perfect winrate issue).
The issue with Yuya tho is that he comes off as an angsty guy, yet the writers don't do much of anything with said angst and instead, uses Yuya as the series's chewtoy.
