You're thinking of DMoC's ritual counterpart.
DMoC itself is a "Dark Magician" monster.

However, Mahad is still incompatible with DMoC anyway, since Mahad summons "Dark Magician", not "Dark Magician monster".

No, it's the Ritual that's "Magician of Black Chaos" in OCG.

DMoC is "Konton no Kuromajutsushi". So that anon is right, DMoC is neither a "Dark Magician" nor a "Chaos" (Kaosu) monster. The "Chaos" in DMoC's name uses "Konton" instead.

But yes, even if DMoC is a "Dark Magician" monster, it's still incompatible with Mahad since Mahad asks for a specific monster, not an archetype.

For someone wondering why this card is a good card for DMoC because there is a quick play spell that allow you tribute Dark magician on the field to special summon DMoC, You just need to destroy your own mahad with card effects and DMoC is a good card to Combo with Kiwi and Chocolate magician girl too
