5ds anime was boring (dont be salty, fans)... it try be serious and mature but... i always slept at the end. konami needed dub the last season of gx instead the 5ds season 1.
lol that reminds me of the time yuma (zexal) saw statues of monsters and said - excitedly:"Ohhhh its dark magician, and blue eyes ... and... red eyes and neos!!"
DM, GX and 5D's definitely share the same universe. (Bonds Beyond Time alone is enough proof of that, though 5D's references Pegasus and the God Cards, too.) Zexal has no real evidence either way. And Arc-V and Vrains are clearly their own universes.
synchros exist in zexal (in the manga there are synchro summons) but obviously konami prefer promoting xyz summon, like in 5ds you dont see ritual summon or fusion only appear twice
im still think zexal is after 5ds (all series are linear before arc v)... maybe in the 5ds final they destroy the synchros for prevent another synchro destruction
so if u dont see any synchro in zexal,is in another universe? that means 5ds is in another universe too, because you dont see any ritual summon (5ds is before the original ygo serie lol)
We have proof that 5Ds is after DM/GX, so no debate there about whether it is in alternate universe or not.
Zexal however, outright actively try to ensure there is no Synchro reference at all, as if it never exist.
- Stardust Dragon statue is missing
- Iron Chain Dragon was in Zexal reveal trailer, but when episode 1 air with the exact same scene in it, Iron Chain Dragon is edited out
The statues in the old man's temple in Zexal are not just random popular monsters, they're specifically referred as the statues of "legendary monsters". If Zexal is in the same universe as 5Ds, where's the Stardust Dragon statue? We know 5Ds is in the same universe as DM and GX, so if DM and GX "legendaries" exist, 5Ds should too. Yet there's no Stardust.
i prefer see a random gx ep instead a complete 5ds season (its most fun). If u wanna be some more serious with a card game serie, better watch wixoss or kakegurui.
Both the second one relied on edginess and unneeded "philosophical" icing and sauciness, while both 5DS and Berserk are excellent storytellers with cohensive "narrative structure"*.
5DS suffered from Death Note syndrome, first arcs are excellent in many ways, then as if the directors/writers can't keep up with the quality of the story, waned down on the next arcs. Still, it could be "necessarily argued" that 5DS signers arc alone is better than most of unflattering GX arcs.
It's because 5Ds were initially only planned up until the end of Dark Signers arc. The studio didn't expect 5Ds to last that long.
Anything after Dark Signer arc were only planned near or after the end of Dark Signer arc, heck the Dark Signer arc itself got last minute changes because of executive meddling.
That is the most likely explanation for why 5Ds quality drops down after Dark Signer arc.
Just like a wine that tastes better in time when properly stored in wineries, any kind of medium is bound to have a review, quality check, criticism, or whatever you call it. You can consult all the online and meta reviews out there and still don't be convinced. The only way then, is to have experience, AND A LOT. When you already watched 500+ anime series, you'll gain not a mastery of which one
(cont...) is objectively better and such, but will have a keen eye to know which one possess far more "consistency" than the other. Cases like, when Death Note and SnK are so high wen it come to online reviews, veteran anime critics only deem them as average or so, and with experience you know why they rate it as such. Same with 5ds and GX, I personally think less inexperienced ones tend to
