Why doesn't Chalice work on Midfielder? Even after it resolves, he can still switch himself out for another monster. And, why does his effect act like a quick effect even though it does't specify it (an effect being quick is always specified)?

The effect is listed, but it's not listed as a QUICK effect.

Some new player might not aware that the sentence indicate a quick effect.
Especially because most of the time quick effect monster have the sentence indicating the effect is a quick effect one.

It has a Quick effect, it's just that this card is printed before the "(Quick effect)" PSCT exist.

Before the term changes to "(Quick effect)", the game uses the term "During either player's turn".
