People say this game is P2w probably don't even know how to even counter those kinds of decks, it depends on the player rather than the deck, a person still might lose many times with a F2P deck if they cant use it to counter other decks.
The problem is that when someone is not really good at this game, they won't admit that it "depends on the player" as the op said. These people are sick and sadly dead wrong about this game, which is not by any means "oppressing" nor forces anyone to buy cards :/
Banish control is not that hard to build, sure thing it can compete and defeat plenty of ancient gears. Even Koa'ki Meirus if they have a good starting hand imo.
