Gem-Knight Garnet | Deck and Rulings

candend
Does anyone know why Garnet is called as broken card? Is it a joke or not? All I see is just a normal monster with high attack and easy to summon. Nothing else. No, I am not comparing this card with skull servant, beaver warrior or tatsunootoshigo.

Check Gem Knight fusion

its effect is kinda like this "fusion summmon 1 gem-knight fusion monster from your extra deck by using monster from your hand and/or field as material. if this card is in your GY, you can banish 1 gem-knight monster, add this card to your hand". so this card is a good cost for retrieving your gk-fusion?

Im sorry i mean brilliant furion, now check Gem Knight Seraphinite. You see, garnet is not OP on its own, its a card that players put 1 copy on their deck to be able to bring out seraphinite via brilliant fusion to have extra normal summon and send a light monster to the grave. You can use any gem knight for this but Garnet is the best target as it has good stats on its own.

Requires all the monsters in the deck, though. And because of how common the brilliant fusion engine was (+1 normal summon, free fusion monster, and selective mill is VERY strong), a dead card in hand became known as a Garnet. Because most people only played 1 and you never wanted to draw it

Yes but the Benefit that you get from actually pulling off the combo is worth the risk of having a dead card in the hand. So yes Garnet is one of the most famous cards in the game because basically all dead cards in the hand are called Garnet.
