Why do so many people at this and the last island event always have Slifer in their deck?

Because game show the card with highest level in your deck.
You can play a strong deck and put slifer inside to fool other players.
They will think you are playing a weak deck.

But those decks are always terrible! Usually 30 card unga bunga with Slifer just thrown in.
