If you play the events you can get more than enough gems. Especially if you're really an "endgame" player because you wouldn't be wasting gems on the older boxes.

No it is really f2p
I beat all ex structure p2w players with my gorgeous Weevil burn deck. No cards from boxes, only card trader and event cards
