Target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; change it to face-down Defense Position. (This card is NOT treated as a Trap Card.) If Summoned this way, this card is unaffected by monster effects, also banish it when it leaves the field.

Evaluation

RatingA-

Pros

  • Changes 1 face-up monster your opponent controls to face-down.
  • You can Special Summon this card as Normal Monster when a Trap card is activated (by you or your opponent). Gains immunity towards monster effects.
  • This card is not treated as a Trap card, therefore spell/trap removal effects does not work on this card.

Cons

  • If this card leaves the Field after it was Special Summoned, banish this monster.
  • Have weak ATK and DEF.

Tips

  • When you flip this Trap card after it was Set, it is still considered Trap Card, and it will only set a face-up monster your opponent controls, face-down. After that resolves, this card will be sent to the Graveyard.
  • After it was sent to the Graveyard, you can therefore activate its effect by chaining to another Trap card’s activation.
Monsters set to face-down by this card effect, can be flipped face up again.
  • This card also acts as an easy tribute for Citadel Whale.

Search

When Flip summoned, this card can search for Paleozoic Canada from your Deck to your Top Deck.

Field Spell

This monster will greatly increase its ATK with Wetlands on the Field.

Support

You can further equip Amulet of Ambition to this monster to increase its ATK based on its level difference with the opponent’s monster.

I got 3 of this with gems long ago.
No regrets at all LOL

This is not the card that you need 3. Floodgate is still better.
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
Floodgate and Canadia both have their own pro and con.

Floodgate permanently locked the monster, but can only be activated on summon, while Canadia can be activated anytime, but only locked the monster for a turn.

A wise choice indeed.
Unlike some player that claiming to be "f2p" and whining about this is p2w card while they spent their gems elsewhere.
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
Wisest choice ever. All cards in this box are meta. Why would anyone play core cards besides those found in this main box?
Best card in Valiant Soul is Drill Barnacle OTK.
Anonymous
While BoM is out of reach, this thing is really handy especially against resonator 2nd turn.
Anonymous
couldnt activate it in the grave both of them.wtf is this?played against weather painter.is that a hack?i didnt get a prompt to activate after my trap activations.seriously i may have won if i could activate the canadias in grave and counter attack.

and i ranked down in that match

so one in grave cant be activated.then another in grave i cant activate.i had monster zones to summon

Is this thing bugged? I've had several games where I attack with one creature, this gets popped, and then my other creatures cant declare like they've already swung. Cost me a lot of wins that I would have done well in.
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
There's no bug, I think you missed something else.

Read the card again.
Pay attention.
And all shall be revealed.
....
Is it worth putting it 3?i wanted anki but got this instead .

Canadia at 3 copies in a deck can be useful. It's really good at disrupting synchro plays and the battle phase, but it's not strictly necessary at 3 considering we have options like Fiendish Chain (selection box), Karma Cut (new Sanctuary box) and Raigeki Break (Shiraiuni box). I used to play it at 3 primarily in my old Paleozoic Deck... it was fun and I should probably update it soon.

You only say that because you don't have the money to buy it.
Go find your first or second job and buy some cards.

?????????

He wanted Anki, he's clearly ready to open the box 3 times.
Anonymous
Use this card if you like being a nerdy camper who delays their defeat.

this at least distrupts your bw as s who summons 26 times

If we use it at the right timing, we delay your victory instead, and making it ours.

Im pretty sure they will never limit this one, maybe they will introduce more backrow removal cards in like... dunno... 3-4 months... so we will see less usage of this card, gradually. So there wont be any need for limitation
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
You can't just limit Canadia, it's literally one of the only tools we have available to keep consistent turn 2 OTK decks in check.
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
Considering stuff like Cosmic Cyclone and Wall of Disruption still exist and aren't limited, I seriously doubt it will get nerfed. Does annoy me a lot since its practically mandatory in every deck to make them work, but its also the best way to counter rushdown teams.
Anonymous
I don't think it really needs limitation now that ancient gears and koa'ki meiru are ruling the meta.
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
Not really, no cards from the red eyes zombie era were limited. Aliens weren't limited, not hazy flames. It just happens that there are stronger archetypes; if you don't want to spend a single cent just play amazoness, hazy flames, or koa'ki meiru
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
True, but this card keeps a lot of other decks from getting anywhere if everybody runs it. There's a difference between countering high platinum decks and keeping the mid to low tier decks from achieving anything if you completely shut down their momentum.
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
Wasnt red eyes insight limited? Im pretty sure it was.
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
I think he meant (no cards from boxes), red eyes insight was a freebie, while gozuki and red eyes zombie were URs from main box
Anonymous
How to counter this thing?
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
Jinzo, or ANY form of backrow removal.
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
Cosmic Cyclone, Galaxy Cyclone, Chain Dispel (in case your opponent runs three and 2 of them are in the deck) Soul Release if in the graveyard, or even using Anti Trap cards like EH Wildheart and Blizzard Princess (although it only works once for Blizzard Princess).
Anonymous
Why Canadia can't activate its effect on a ritual monster?
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
Check again the effect of that ritual monster, the ritual spell card used to summon it or effect of other cards on the field that time!
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
Which effect, the first one where it flips a monster face down in def position or the second one. I'm assuming its the second one when it is in the graveyard. For the second effect to activate in the graveyard, a trap card must be activated anywhere on the field.
*Note: Be specific on the ritual monster and what effects it might have. It could negate any Canadia effects.*
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
Easy. It's ritual summoned using djinn. Search djinn in catalog and you will see.
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
If player used a certain Djinn the Ritual Monster will be unaffected by card effects. That includes traps like Canadia

I SIMPLY LOVE THIS EVENT MAN !
Must add that... THE ARTWORK plays a BIG role in the western world.

Haven't you noticed, guys?.

If the dominant archetypes in the meta are CUTE LOOKING cards such as Sylvans, Cats (furries) and Amazons Ladies. Then PEOPLE RAGE A LOT !!!!!! LOL ! It's true... but... if they give us Rusty looking dudes as Ancient gear and Aggressive looking Koa'ki Meirus; then only a few complain.

Damn bro, I hope they never limit this one but introduce more cards that get rid of backrow instead.
