Pros

  • Great ATK and DEF stats.
  • Negates Spell/Trap activation that targets this card, and destroy it.
  • Can be used multiple times during either Player’s turn.
  • Can send 1 Spell/Trap you control to the Graveyard, to change your opponent’s monster attack target to this monster.

Cons

  • Requires 2 Tributes to Tribute summon.
  • Attack redirection effect requires cost to use, can also be situational.
  • Negation ability will also negate your own Spell/Trap card if you target it.

Tips

Speed summon

The traditional way of speed summoning a level 7 or higher Dragon-type monster is to use Kidmodo Dragon’s effect by sending it to the Graveyard in order to Special Summon White Night Dragon from your Hand. Mausoleum of the Emperor allows you to pay 2000 Life Points to Normal Summon White Night Dragon, at the same time it acts as a Spell fodder should you need to change your opponent’s monster’s attacking target to White Night Dragon. Big Wave Small Wave can easily summon White Night Dragon from your hand, by destroying all face-up WATER monsters you control. Dragon's Rebirth if you are using a Dragon monsters only deck, and it can special summon from the grave.

Additional supports

Using Hardened Armed Dragon as 1 of the Tributes to Tribute summon White Night Dragon will grant your White Night Dragon immunity to card effects’ destruction. You can use Big Bang Shot to equip to your opponent’s monster, and if that monster attacks your monsters other than White Night Dragon, you can send Big Bang Shot to the Graveyard to banish that equipped monster. If you are playing White Night Dragon in a WATER themed deck, you can opt to use Moray of Greed as draw power tech.

bad deck?

Too bad that decklist is posted before the Balance nerf, so now that deck can't work with Balance.
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
u have another deck for white night drag?
<< Anonymous(Alan)
Anonymous Reply
That deck can still work with the current version of Balance if modified a bit.

-1 WND (3 is a brick), -1 Tricky. and -1 Crystal Seer. In their place, put 1 good Spell and 2 good Traps.

How come when I play this, and trap cards activate and still destroy it? That doesn't make any kind of sense considering it is supposed to nullifying the effects of any trap/magic cards targeting it....unless cards like wall of D, mirror wall etc that target everything still affects it too? That's annoying...
<< Anonymous
Aquablast Reply
That's right, cards that target everything is considered not targeting at all. Basically, a card is only targeting when the card actually says "target". This card honestly isn't as good as it sounds... but at least you'll still be safe from stuff like Tribute to the Doom and Enemy Controller.
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
WoD and Mirror Wall don't target anything which is why WND won't stop them. If the monster's text said that it can't be affected by trap/spell effects, only then would it be immune to those effects. Notice how Enemy Controller's effect uses the word "target". WND would be able to negate it.

Aquablast Reply
Btw, I think Counter Trap cards will also work against this card. Honestly I'm not too great at ruling, but if I'm not mistaken, no cards except Counter Trap cards can be played once a Counter Trap is activated. Something about Counter Traps having the highest "spell speed" in a chain, so watch out for those cards.
<< Anonymous(Aquablast)
Anonymous Reply
The fact that White Night Dragon can't chain to Counter Traps is pretty much entirely irrelevant anyway. There's no player-obtainable Counter Traps in Duel Links that can actually target it. Not sure if any other than Negate Attack exist in the TCG/OCG for that matter.
yay
Underrated card, but with such massive amount of ATK points and negating effects. No surprise why they do not limit canadias or floodgates. Otherwise this one might be actually very op !
<< Anonymous(yay)
lil kuribon Reply
But canadias can't touch this card
<< Anonymous(lil kuribon)
Anonymous Reply
hmmm... even better then, there are cards like this one and Ice Princess who are quite overrated. Ice Princess + Arrival Rivals can get you lots of easy wins
<< Anonymous(yay)
Ichigo897 Reply
Unfortunately, I just found out the hard way that floodgate works against WND. That hurt quite abit, and confused me as to why the trap was not negated.
<< Anonymous(Ichigo897)
Anonymous Reply
Because floodgate does not 'target'
Anonymous
It doesn't say once per turn so can this effect go off once per turn or more then once?
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
Yeah more than once.

So the strategy is the same as when you go against hazy monster: rely on monster effect/ ST that doesn't target.
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
Easiest way to deal with it is:

1) target another monster
2) opponent send away their ST: no more back row to deal with your attack
3) once it's safe, activate metalmorph on damage step

Bye 8* monster

.....or just use SRH. SRH doesn't target White Night, it only targets your own monster.
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
It says that "during either player's turn. It means it always happen just once, while each spell card activate.... It more than once.

Does anyone know why this can't negate Crystal Conclave? That card's description even says 'target 1 "Crystal Beast" card you control and 1 card on the field' so...?
<< Anonymous
WoodFrJared Reply
Hi, The activation of the effect can't be disabled since Crystal Conclave is already running on the field.
<< Anonymous
WoodFrJared Reply
and White Night Dragon can only negate the card activation that targets this card.

Dude you really need to know the difference between ACTIVATING AN EFFECT and ACTIVATING A CARD!

Just lost a ranked duel in duel links cause of that dumb 🔥 lol -.- I special summon it etc and when I'm about to attack, enemy humiliates me with mirror wall... I legit stood there till time ran out reading the effects of each of 2 cards over and over again and I was like "why the 🔥 doesn't it get destroyed" lel. Then I came here and realized that it's a pretty mediocre card >.> It has PARTIAL spell and trap immunity sadly. Def not a boss monster as I thought it was.
<< Anonymous(Tubbs)

Your deck is too messy and randomness everywhere. Think of a win condition and focus on 1-2 strategy. Also, reducing number of cards to 20 greatly boost its consistency.

This may not be the best boss monster but it get things done.
<< Anonymous
Tubbs Reply
No, it's not random at all, perhaps a bit too messy I guess.

Whole deck is a dragon deck built around discarding my boss monsters from hand/deck and bringing them back from the graveyard
(based on my irl deck developed on RoTD structure).

But yeah, I'll try to drop it to 25>
<< Anonymous(Tubbs)
Anonymous Reply
Yeah I'm sorry Tubbs but I've got to agree with the the other anonymous person. The deck doesn't look consistent at all.

Might be worth checking out the Deck Advice page or search for another Dragon mill deck on here - I suggest a Red Eye B Dragon but this deck seems similar to what you're going for: http://duellinks.gamea.co/c/nk698hpq

No hate, just trying to help a brother out!

So, after some mods I did and the amazo-skill-nes deck was nerfed I managed to hit platinum 1 with this deck. It's not bad for a none meta deck, although it does struggle a lot against white eyes turbo decks.
Thanks a lot for the help ppl~

This card has recently becomes useful again because raigeki break, karma cut, fiendish chain and any forbidden quick-play spell. This card basically counter shiranui with those pesky traps.

Are you troll? This card needs 2 tributes and all you get is target immunity destruction and mediocre stats. Atm there are tons of better and easy summonable options like archfiends call, lunalight saberdancer, dark cavarly, red-eyes slash dragon etc This had its chance before 3 years. Now it has joined the huge list of crap cards thanks to power creep.

Candend Reply
Bruh, always don't underestimate any card. Also you think this card can only be summoned by tribute summon? This card fits in Felgrand deck. You can special summon from GY by arkbrave, paladin or guardian. Not to mention with ruins (that continuous spell) while you control this card, it negates any monster that was special summoned except from GY. Also you can use super team buddy force.
<< Anonymous(Candend)
Narukami Safacki Reply
Ah yes. I remember when I built a dragon themed deck using this along with Arkbrave, Felgrand and Pandemic. It was really worth the meme and fun to use against AI and in casual duels
candend
I probably make a deck with Blue-Eyes White Night Dragon and Tyrant Dragon as ace monsters so they almost immune to targeting effect. Hardened Armed Dragon will support those cards

Still vulnerable to Order to Charge , how could it be? Some random bot did to me.
<< Anonymous(ZSpeaR)
Anonymous Reply
Order to Charge works like Super Rush Headlong in that the effect that destroys opponent's monster doesn't target.
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
Or rather, it's SRH that works like OtC since OtC came first XD

But I figure people would be more familiar with SRH.
Chris
My white night dragon keeps being effected by spell and trap cards. I have 2 of them in my deck and their abilities are not working. I would just have 2 blue eyes white dragons because that is pretty much all they are right now.
<< Anonymous(Chris)
Nanini Reply
Only spells and traps that targets the dragon are negated!
<< Anonymous(Chris)
Anonymous Reply
It's immune to Enemy Controller, Canadia and Treacherous Trap Hole so the protection is pretty decent.

It's not immune to WoD, Mirror Wall, Spellbook of Fate, Widespread Ruin or Super Rush Headlong because these cards don't target. You'll still need to run backrow removal to clear a path.
Anonymous
I attacked with this card and my opponent activated a quickplay spell card and banished it. Doesn't the text say that it negates any spell/trap that targets it?
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
You don't even know what card your opponent activated and you expect us to give you answer?

If you're talking about Spellbook of Fate that card doesn't target.
