Overview

The Amazoness archetype received some amazing support lately with the addition of Amazoness Onslaught, Amazoness Queen and Amazoness Princess, making this deck actually very viable and consistent on the PvP ladder.

If Amazoness do get new support that would be included in this deck we will revisit this guide when the time comes.

How to Use

There are a lot of people playing Sylvans so more and more people are picking up a deck that does well against it, like Cyber Angels with Saffira, and this deck has an amazing win rate against Cyber Angels. It also does well against Destiny Heroes (which now run Masked Hero Anki). However it has a hard time against Geargias because they can take out your monsters and backrow without attacking.

Amazoness Heirloom & Amazoness Willpower

Now that we have access to Amazoness Princess, these cards have actually become much better. If you already have access to Amazoness Onslaught, you could use Princess’ her effect to search one of these cards instead.

Amazoness Willpower is included instead of another copy of Powerful Rebirth because this card can also bring back Amazoness Queen from the graveyard, also it’s second effect that obligates your Amazoness monster to attack each battle phase isn’t as awful now when paired up with Amazoness Queen.

Amazoness Onslaught

The main goal of this deck is to start out with Amazoness onslaught and start banishing your opponent’s monsters with its effect, that’s why you use Restart or Balance to raise that consistency.

Amazoness Onslaught’s effect will activate after the damage calculations, even if your monster was destroyed by battle, which means the way this card is countered is with cards like Super Rush Headlong. This card’s effect activates even if it was your opponent who attacked, so if you don’t have enough life points you can put your monsters in defense and still banish your opponent’s monsters.

This card also has two other effects. The first one being that you can special summon 1 Amazoness monster during your battle phase and it will gain 500 atk this turn if you do so. This means that if you have this card on the field, and an Amazoness monster in your hand, it’s best to not normal summon during your main phase, but rather go to your battle phase and then special summon it for that attack increase. You can also use this effect during your opponent’s battle phase, this can be very useful for survival. Keep in mind however that this effect can not be activated during the damage step, so if your opponent attacks and you want to special summon an Amazoness monster you need to summon it during the battle step.

Its third and last effect is that when this card you control is destroyed, you can special summon an Amazoness monster from your graveyard. So even if your opponent gets rid of this card , you get some last use out of it.

This card is now even better because you can also special summon Amazoness Queen with it (Onslaught does not have a level restriction).

Amazoness Queen

This is the new level up reward from Mai. This is the only monster with a level higher than 4 in this deck, which doesn’t pose a problem since she can be special summoned from the hand with Amazoness Onslaught, or special summoned from the deck thanks to Amazoness Princess. She has an amazing effect that makes all your Amazoness monsters invincible in battle (but they can still be destroyed through effects like Sylvan Marshalleaf).

A great way to make your board is to summon Amazoness Princess at the start to search out Amazoness Onslaught, and when you attack a monster with a higher attack (while Amazoness Onslaught is activated) you can discard a card to special summon Queen in defense position, so your Princess won’t be destroyed, but their monster will be banished.

Because your monsters can’t be destroyed by battle you do run the risk of your opponent attacking the same weak monster over and over (like Baby Tiger) to remove all your life points, so be careful with what you decide to put in attack position.

Her effect also protects herself from being destroyed in battle.

Amazoness Princess

This card alone will probably be able to put this deck on the tier list. When she is summoned you can add an Amazoness spell or trap from your deck to your hand, most of the time you’ll pick up Amazoness Onslaught, however if you already have one in the hand or on the field you might want to pick up an Amazoness Heirloom or Amazoness Willpower.

Her second effect allows you to summon 1 Amazoness monster from your deck in defense position whenever she attacks, you do need to discard one card to activate this effect. This is a great way to search out your only copies of Amazoness Queen or Baby Tiger. You’ll probably first want to search Amazoness Queen, but if you already have her, Baby Tiger is a great way to gain card advantage as well since he keeps coming back from the Graveyard.

Amazoness Baby Tiger

Another new Amazoness card from the latest box. This card can be special summoned from your hand or graveyard whenever you summon an Amazoness monster. Now the most important part about this card is that it can be special summoned from your graveyard, meaning you can bring this card back over and over again and crash it into your opponent’s monsters (while Onslaught is on the field) to gain card advantage, and use your bigger Amazoness monsters to attack your opponent directly.

Only one copy is included because having too much can make you brick, and you really only need one to use multiple times.

This card does have a very low attack, so you’ll have to be careful with your life points if you attack with this monster, this is why Holy Guard could be a great choice as a skill.

Amazoness Sage & Amazoness Paladin

We settled on these two ladies for our main attackers.

If you do not have 3 copies of Amazoness Paladin you could replace her with Amazoness Swordswoman or Amazoness Tiger.

Amazoness Paladin is here for her high attack, she will always at least have 1800 attack, but she can get up to 2000 maximum which gets over the most popular level 4 drops.

The only way you’ll get use out of Amazoness Sage’s effect is if she is paired up with Amazoness Queen, if she can attack directly, or if you used Windstorm/Curse of Anubis and attack a monster in defense position because in most situations her attack will be lower than all other level 4 monsters (even the level 4 destiny Heroes have more attack).

Enemy Controller

As we all know, overall Enemy Controller is an excellent card and always has been, but it has extra synergy with this deck thanks to Baby Tiger. If you have a Baby Tiger on the field, you could tribute-take one of your opponent’s monsters, then summon another Amazoness monster and bring back Baby Tiger once again, giving you a full board.

Windstorm of Etaqua & Curse of Anubis

Although there might be more expensive, better spells/traps, we wanted to feature these cards in our list to make the deck cheaper but also explain why they should be considered and can be amazing.

Normally if you attack a monster in attack position, or your opponent attacks your monster, both will be removed from the field (one is destroyed by battle and the other is banished by Onslaught), so you basically go one for one. However if you can get a Windstorm/Curse of Anubis of against multiple of your opponent monsters, you can then attack into them on your next turn, and because they will be in defense position, your monsters will survive, and theirs will be banished, giving you a lot of card advantage if used at the right time.

Additional Notes

  • Although our version uses two copies of Powerful Rebirth you can use a more budget version with only one copy.

  • More copies of Amazoness Paladin can be picked up with the UR tickets you get from doing PvP.

  • Other good spells/traps to use with this deck would be cards like Ultimate Providence/Forbidden Chalice, mostly to negate the effect of Sylvans, but because you run a lot of traps, Ultimate Providence can be used to negate an opponent’s trap.

  • With balance, if you want to start (100% of the time) with at least one card of a certain type (monster/spell/trap) you need to run 6 in a 20 card deck. If you want at least two, you need to run 11 in a 20 card deck. So if you run 11 monsters and 9 traps you would be 100% sure to start with 2 monsters and 1 trap (the fourth card will be random).

  • Since we can search out Amazoness Onslaught with Princess , people might find that running only 2 copies of Onslaught is better, however this is difficult to know at this time since there is also a lot of backrow hate being used, and people might start using more copies of Cosmic Cyclone if this deck becomes too dominent.

  • If you are looking for a great card to counter Amazoness deck, try out Chaos Hunter. She will stop the banishing effect and can be easily summoned since Amazoness decks special summon a lot.

Other Useful Cards

CardExplanation
Amazoness Tiger
Amazoness Tiger
A great amazoness card that can get its attack quite high, however keep in mind you cannot control this card and Amazoness Baby Tiger at the same time because they are both treated as Amazoness Tiger, and you can only control one at a time.
Amazoness Swords Woman
Amazoness Swords Woman
Can be devastating when paired with Amazoness Queen since she won’t be able to die in battle and she’ll continue to do damage to your opponent.
Amazoness Fighter
Amazoness Fighter
This card kind of is a weaker version of Amazoness Swordswoman, because both make you not take any battle damage, however Swordswoman inflicts that damage on your opponent.
Amazoness Archer
Amazoness Archer
Although it might be situation most times, this card can come in clutch. Imagine having an Amazoness monster with Onslaught on the field, and you have Impenetrable Attack available, you could force your opponent to attack with all monsters meaning they would all be banished.
Half Shut
Half Shut
Has the same purpose as Impenetrable Attack, but has additional synergy with Amazoness Swordswoman.
Impenetrable Attack
Impenetrable Attack
Protects your monster from being destroyed by battle giving you more utility out of Amazoness Onslaught. Can also negate battle damage for a whole battle phase in desperate situations.

That is what I thought. I took her out of my deck awhile back because I thought I saw her do nothing (and it doesn't look like anyone else uses her, either). I didn't know about heirloom, though. I'm guessing she doesn't work with that because it destroys by an effect. In a way, it is kind of a shame. She could have been good.

I already use WOD. As for fighting spirit, we'll see. It sounds good to try if Jinzo starts popping up everywhere.

Correction: I meant to say willpower. I already use 2 of those. But with onslaught semi limited, maybe it is time to try out fighting spirit?

HOLY COSMOS!
Just started playing Amazoness some mins ago.
It was a dlv max match against Sylvans.
I go first, set TTH and Onslaught. End my turn. Opponent starts w kuroshroom facedown and probably an econ? facedown as well.
Turn 3, I summon swordwoman, activate TTH, Kuroshroom dies with swordwoman. Special summon Paladin w onslaught effect, deal 2300 dmg. Turn 4, opponent summons carrot, doesnt attack. Turn 5, I special summon baby tiger, baby tiger dies in battle against carrot and banishes him, direct attack w Paladin and win the duel.

So... in order to win, this deck needs to sacrifice your own monsters in battle, unleast you have Queen on field... I don't really like that :(

Even the evil and nasty Masked heroes don't get rid of their commarades in battle to win.

I guess amazoness prefer to die in battle...
I'm not really sure if I'm going to get used to this deck... hehe ^^

Usually Sylvans when don't have time to excavate (like in this case), they just drop down a marshall and mill some carrot or rose or some annoying sylvans then boom, your field is nuked...
Their hand must be soooo brick for this to happen...

I'm laughing right now their are many people said that amazoness is the cure(since the release of princess) and now their are more people who complain. This shows that people are crybabies.

The funniest thing when playing this deck is when you go up against someone using parasite infestation, and keep watching the parasite getting shuffled further down into your deck right when it looks like you will draw it, every time you use the princess' effect to get an amazoness spell/trap from your deck.

A thing that is more funny is when Amazon players attack into my Chaos Hunter while Empress is on the field and try to banish the shit out of me ending up loosing all their monsters due to a wall of disruption xD

XD That is hilarious! But if WOD's best friend, Amazoness Swordswoman, is there, then the s*** is gonna get real! If I didn't have three of her and/or willpower ready to replace the WODed ones that I send away with the princess' effect, then RIP for me.

This deck is more cancer than Sylvans. They swarm the field, they banish your stuff and they always open up with a Princess or the trap card.

In the Japanese tournament Sylvans placed first place and second. Amazoness didn't even place. Also remove their backrow and remove Queen and they're toast. (Which isn't that hard.)

After perusing the comment section of practically every Tier 1 Deck, it has become quite clear to me that every person who plays Duel Links believes every meta-defining deck is “carcinogenic” (that means “cancerous”, since you simpletons feel the need to oh-so-originally deem everything as such). That being said, Duel Links IS rather balanced! Every good deck is “cancer” according to you all, so why all the complaints? If every deck is cancer, every deck is balanced; therefore, you should have no reason to call the game unbalanced!

Honestly, it is a card game designed for middle-schoolers; card games always have a meta-defining deck which is a “win-more” deck, so please go play chess instead if you dislike the obvious fact that there exists a meta.
<< Anonymous(spooky)
Anonymous 15days ago Reply
That's incorrect. People are calling for balances because the TCG/OCG always limited over centralized cards in major decks. For many generations Burn recieved a limit on staples every time it turned around because although it wasn't tier 1 in real life, it was extreme potent. Same thing with duel links. Just because there are meta defining decks doesn't mean that there should be no limit - cont.
<< Anonymous
Anonymous 15days ago Reply
Even decks that weren't the top had limiters/semi limiters/bans to make uncompetitive cards limited, overused staples, and more to make players use intelligent moves instead of just cookie cutters. Meta isn't the issue, overlooking balance is.
