Deskbot: deck recipe [May 16]

Duel Links Deskbot deck, Deskbot in the current meta, how to use.
update 16/05/2022

Overview

“Deskbot” is an archetype of EARTH Machine-Type monsters of various Levels whose effects primarily focus on swarming the field and increasing their ATK and DEF. Despite the fact that all monsters in this archetype have an original ATK and DEF of 500, they can quickly reach numbers that rival some of the biggest monsters we’ve seen in Duel Links.

How to Use

Deskbot 005

Deskbot 005
Deskbot 005
EARTH Machine ★5
ATK 500 / DEF 500
Maximum Gustav [R]
Pendulum Effect
You cannot Pendulum Summon monsters, except "Deskbot" monsters. This effect cannot be negated.

Monster Effect
If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can target 1 Spell/Trap Card on the field; destroy it. This card gains 500 ATK for each face-up "Deskbot" monster in your Extra Deck. If this card in the Pendulum Zone is destroyed: You can target 1 "Deskbot" monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon it. You can only use this effect of "Deskbot 005" once per turn.

A simple backrow removal that you can use pretty easily by special summoning with 003.

Deskbot 003

Deskbot 003
Deskbot 003
EARTH Machine ★3
ATK 500 / DEF 500
Warriors Unite [R]
Maximum Gustav [R]
When this card is Normal Summoned: You can Special Summon 1 "Deskbot" monster from your Deck, except "Deskbot 003". Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can target 1 "Deskbot" monster you control; it gains 500 ATK and DEF for each "Deskbot" card you currently control, until the end of this turn.

A very useful starter since the other Deskbots have on-summon effects.

  • 002 if you need a search effect.
  • 004 can get the highest ATK and help dump a card from deck to grave.
  • 005 to destroy a spell/trap card your opponent controls.
  • 006 to switch any monster on the field to defense.
  • 009 if you need an uninterruptable attack.

Its ATK boost, while it may seem small, is a quick effect that can be used during the damage step and it adds up the more Deskbot cards you have on the field, which includes the pendulum cards and the field spell too.

With 3 Deskbots on the field, any of your Deskbot's monsters can become 2000 ATK or 2500 if there's Deskbot Base. This is also not a hard once per turn, so you can activate multiple Deskbot 003 on the same turn. This will work together with Deskbot 009.

Deskbot 004

Deskbot 004
Deskbot 004
EARTH Machine ★4
ATK 500 / DEF 500
Warriors Unite [R]
Maximum Gustav [R]
If this card battles an opponent's monster, during damage calculation (in either player's turn): You can activate this effect once per battle; your opponent takes no battle damage for the rest of this turn, also send 1 "Deskbot" monster from your Deck to the Graveyard, except "Deskbot 004", and if you do, this card gains ATK and DEF equal to the sent monster's Level x 500, during that damage calculation only. If this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle: You can Special Summon 2 "Deskbot" monsters with different Levels from your hand and/or Graveyard in Defense Position.

Sending a Deskbot 009 gives a +4500 ATK and DEF = 5000 ATK, which mostly means that it can attack over anything. Sending 003 to become 2000 ATK is also decent enough to potentially destroy attacking monsters for unsuspecting opponents.

You'll want to prioritize sending Deskbot 009 to the Graveyard to get it out of the Deck and avoid drawing it. This is essentially how you will be special summoning 009 to the field through something like Super Team Buddy Force Unit! or Monster Reborn.

Deskbot 009

Deskbot 009
Deskbot 009
EARTH Machine ★9
ATK 500 / DEF 500
Warriors Unite [N]
Once per turn, during your Main Phase 1: You can make this card gain ATK equal to the combined ATK of all "Deskbot" monsters you currently control, except "Deskbot 009", until the end of your opponent's turn. Only this card can attack the turn this effect is activated. If this card battles, your opponent's cards and effects cannot be activated until the end of the Damage Step. If this card would be destroyed by battle or card effect, you can destroy 1 "Deskbot" card you control instead.

Similar to Ancient Gear Reactor Dragon and Armades, Keeper of Boundaries, if Deskbot 009 battles, your opponent cannot activate cards or effects until the end of the Damage Step.

Paleozoic Canadia, Enemy Controller and, Offerings to the Doomed can still be used to prevent Deskbot 009 from attacking if they are activated before battle, but Sphere Kuriboh and Drowning Mirror Force are completely useless against it. Additionally if Deskbot 009 is about to be destroyed you can destroy another “Deskbot” card you control instead, giving him at least some form of self protection.

Before you activate Deskbot 009's effect, you'll want to use other ways to increase ATK. Activate "Tie that Binds", and all of your Deskbot 003 if you have them.

If you activate "Tie that Binds" and have 002 with 3 Deskbots on the field, 009 will get to 3400 ATK.

Deskbot 002

Deskbot 002
Deskbot 002
EARTH Machine ★2
ATK 500 / DEF 500
Warriors Unite [N]
Maximum Gustav [N]
If this card is Special Summoned: You can add 1 "Deskbot" card from your Deck to your hand. All Machine-Type monsters you control gain 500 ATK and DEF, except this card.

A searcher so you can more reliably get 004 or do a pendulum summon.

Deskbot Base

Deskbot Base
Deskbot Base
Field Spell
Maximum Gustav [N]
All "Deskbot" monsters on the field gain 500 ATK and DEF. Once per turn: You can reveal any number of "Deskbot" cards in your hand and shuffle them into the Deck, then draw the same number of cards. You can banish 9 "Deskbot" cards with different names from your field and/or Graveyard, except "Deskbot Base"; shuffle all cards from your opponent's hand, field and Graveyard into the Deck.

Quite useful in general for the deck to help fix cards in your hand or just as a small added ATK boost.

Since 003's effect simply says Deskbot cards you control, the field spell is included for the ATK boost, which means just having 003 on the field and the field spell alone makes 003 have 2000 ATK.

The last effect isn't going to be usable if you don't have 9 different Deskbot cards with different names. It's also quite slow and may not be worth bringing in not so useful cards in the deck just for that effect.

Tech Cards

Book of Moon
Book of Moon
Quick Spell
Chaotic Soldiers [UR]
Selection Box Vol.04 [UR]
Target 1 face-up monster on the field; change that target to face-down Defense Position.

Useful disruption card to stop your opponent before you can properly set up. It can also be used on your own monsters to dodge certain targeting cards.

Floodgate Trap Hole
Floodgate Trap Hole
Normal Trap
Generation Next [UR]
When your opponent Summons a monster(s): Change that monster(s) to face-down Defense Position. Monsters changed to face-down Defense Position by this effect cannot change their battle positions.

Powerful generic trap card that works in most decks. Just like Book of Moon, this is useful to stop your opponent's plays, except you can use this to potentially stall a little longer since the affected monster is flipped down permanently. It becomes more useful in later turns when you're low on resources to activate certain Deskbot's effects. Big downside is that back row destroying cards are somewhat common in the meta.

Powerful Rebirth
Powerful Rebirth
Continuous Trap
Kings Resonance [SR]
Blades of Spirits [SR]
Activate this card by targeting 1 Level 4 or lower monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon that target. Increase its Level by 1 and ATK and DEF by 100. When that monster is destroyed, destroy this card.

Used to revived Level 4 or lower Deskbot Monsters like 002, 003 and 004. It's Level Increase Effect which also can allows you to Xyz Summon alongside with other same level Deskbot Monster on your field.

Extra Deck

All the Deskbots have varying levels, as indicated by their 00 names, which makes Xyz summoning not something that happens often.

However, you can somewhat reliably do this with 004's effect when it destroys a monster by battle. The other way is if you have 1 Deskbot on your field, you can then summon 003 to special summon from your deck the one that's currently on the field.

Number 47: Nightmare Shark
Number 47: Nightmare Shark
WATER Fish ★3
ATK 2000 / DEF 2000
Reginald Kastle Unlock Event [UR]
2 Level 3 monsters
When this card is Special Summoned: You can attach 1 Level 3 WATER monster from your hand or your side of the field to this card as an Xyz Material. Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 WATER monster you control; this turn, that monster can attack your opponent directly, also other monsters cannot attack.

Summon Nightmare Shark and use it to attack directly for 2000 damage. Do this if said attack will win you the game.

The Phantom Knights of Cursed Javelin
The Phantom Knights of Cursed Javelin
DARK Warrior ★2
ATK 1600 / DEF 0
Yuto at Lvl 21 and 30 [UR]
2 Level 2 monsters
You can detach 1 material from this card, then target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; until the end of this turn, change its ATK to 0, also negate its effects. This is a Quick Effect if this card has a "The Phantom Knights" card as material. You can only use this effect of "The Phantom Knights of Cursed Javelin" once per turn.

As long as your opponent's monster can be targeted, this can help you get over them. Since Deskbots can get a lot of ATK boosts, turning their ATK to 0 can potentially lead to an OTK.

Gaia Dragon, the Thunder Charger
Gaia Dragon, the Thunder Charger
WIND Dragon ★7
ATK 2600 / DEF 2100
Infinite Ray [SR]
2 Level 7 monsters
You can also Xyz Summon this card by using a Rank 5 or 6 Xyz Monster you control as the Xyz Material. (Xyz Materials attached to that monster also become Xyz Materials on this card.) If this card attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing battle damage to your opponent.

A follow-up to a rank 5 or 6 if you need a higher ATK monster that has a piercing effect.

Number 70: Malevolent Sin
Number 70: Malevolent Sin
DARK Insect ★4
ATK 2400 / DEF 1200
Photons of Galaxy [SR]
2 Level 4 monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 monster your opponent controls; banish it until your opponent's next Standby Phase. At the end of the Damage Step, if this card attacked: You can make this card gain 300 ATK, and if you do, increase its Rank by 3.

Malevolent Sin does have a decent non-destruction removal effect, and it's good against XYZ to remove their materials or go for a game winning attack. Keep in mind that if you have Corebage and you plan on summoning it, you need to not activate Malevolent Sin's effect since Corebage needs to have 2 materials in the rank 4 monster.

Number 20: Giga-Brilliant
Number 20: Giga-Brilliant
LIGHT Insect ★3
ATK 1800 / DEF 1800
Number Hunter: Kite Tenjo Unlock Event [SR]
2 Level 3 monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; all face-up monsters you currently control gain 300 ATK.

Giga-Brilliant can be summoned for its field-wide ATK boost, but usually you'll want to reserve him for making Corebage.

Digital Bug Corebage
Digital Bug Corebage
LIGHT Insect ★5
ATK 2200 / DEF 1800
Infinite Ray [R]
2 or more Level 5 LIGHT Insect-Type monsters
You can also Xyz Summon this card by detaching 2 Xyz Materials from a Rank 3 or 4 Insect-Type Xyz Monster you control, then using that Xyz Monster as the Xyz Material. (Xyz Materials attached to that monster also become Xyz Materials on this card.) Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 Defense Position monster your opponent controls; shuffle it into the Deck. Once per turn, if the battle position of a monster(s) on the field is changed (except during the Damage Step): You can attach 1 Insect-Type monster from your Graveyard to this card as Xyz Material.

Summon Corebage by overlaying it on Giga-Brilliant. It's removal effect is specialized for removing troublesome enemy walls, especially ones immune to destruction.

Number 45: Crumble Logos the Prophet of Demolition
Number 45: Crumble Logos the Prophet of Demolition
EARTH Zombie ★2
ATK 2200 / DEF 0
Shark Fang [R]
2 or more Level 2 monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 other face-up card on the field; while this monster is face-up on the field, that target has its effects negated. While that target is on the field, cards with the same name as that target, and their effects, cannot be activated.

Card removal effect and can't be destroyed by battle, but very short-lived since it will essentially only work once. With no Xyz materials left, you can then use it to special summon Thunder Charger.

Weaknesses

  • Aside from Deskbot 009, none of your monsters have protection from removal. Offerings to the Doomed and Treacherous Trap Hole can all be used to get rid of your monsters without having to attack into them.
  • Once you’ve sent all copies of Deskbot 009 to the Graveyard, Deskbot 004 becomes a lot easier to deal with. You want to run at least two copies of the Level 9 monster to be able to boost the ATK of Deskbot 004 and Special Summon an eventual Deskbot 009 you drew, but that also affects the consistency of the deck.

Other Useful Cards

Deskbot 001

Deskbot 001
Deskbot 001
EARTH Machine ★1
ATK 500 / DEF 500
Warriors Unite [N]
This card gains 500 ATK and DEF for each Machine-Type monster you control. If 2 or more Machine-Type monsters are Special Summoned at the same time while this card is in your Graveyard (except during the Damage Step): You can Special Summon this card.

Since the only way to special summon 2 Deskbots to your field is through 004's effect, 001's graveyard effect is not usable due to limited space. It's mainly used here for the ATK boost to feed into 009.

Deskbot 006

Deskbot 006
Deskbot 006
EARTH Machine ★6
ATK 500 / DEF 500
Maximum Gustav [R]
Pendulum Effect
You cannot Pendulum Summon monsters, except "Deskbot" monsters. This effect cannot be negated.

Monster Effect
If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can target 1 monster on the field; change its battle position. This card gain 500 ATK for each face-up "Deskbot" monster in your Extra Deck. If this card in the Pendulum Zone is destroyed: You can target 1 "Deskbot" card in your Graveyard; add that target to your hand. You can only use this effect of "Deskbot 006" once per turn.

If you can't get over your opponent's high ATK monster with 004, you can instead special summon this so that you can deal with them through their DEF instead.

During your turn, you can special summon this by using 003's normal summon effect or by pendulum summoning, but you can also use Super Team Buddy Force Unite! during your opponent's turn to stop an attack.

Psychic Wheeleder

Psychic Wheeleder
Psychic Wheeleder
EARTH Psychic ★3
ATK 600 / DEF 0
Dimension of the Wizards [UR]
If you control a Level 3 monster other than "Psychic Wheeleder", you can Special Summon this card (from your hand) in Defense Position. You can only Special Summon "Psychic Wheeleder" once per turn this way. If this card is sent to the GY as Synchro Material: You can target 1 monster on the field with less ATK than the Synchro Monster that used this card as material; destroy it. You can only use this effect of "Psychic Wheeleder" once per turn.If you control a Level 3 monster other than "Psychic Wheeleder", you can Special Summon this card (from your hand) in Defense Position. You can only Special Summon "Psychic Wheeleder" once per turn this way. If this card is sent to the GY as Synchro Material: You can target 1 monster on the field with less ATK than the Synchro Monster that used this card as material; destroy it. You can only use this effect of "Psychic Wheeleder" once per turn.

While Deskbots have high power output, their stat boosts only last till the End Phase leaving you with a field of low stat monsters. Psychic Wheeleder paired with Deskbot 003 gives you access to Synchro plays as a way to put high base-stat monsters on the field for consistent field presence.

Additionally, having a level-6 Synchro toolbox also adds versatility to the deck. Put generic level-6 Synchros in your Extra Deck with varying effects for different situations. (i.e. Brionac for removal, Barkion for Trap negation, Goyo Guardian as a Beater)

Counter Trap Engine

Rebirth of Parshath
Rebirth of Parshath
Counter Trap
Lords of Shining [R]
When a Spell/Trap Card, or monster effect, is activated: Reveal 1 Counter Trap in your hand, then discard 1 card and pay 1000 LP; negate the activation, and if you do, shuffle that card into the Deck. Then, you can Special Summon 1 "Parshath" monster from your Deck or Extra Deck.
Avenging Knight Parshath
Avenging Knight Parshath
LIGHT Fairy ★8
ATK 2600 / DEF 2100
Ranked Rewards [UR]
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner LIGHT monsters
Once per turn: You can target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; change that target's battle position. If this card attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing battle damage to your opponent.

Since Deskbots can pretty much handle themselves in terms of stats, your support should serve the purpose of keeping disruption effects away. Rebirth of Parshath and Ultimate Providence are great Counter Traps because they have the potential to negate anything your opponent activates.

Rebirth of Parshath has a more versatile negation compared to Ultimate Providence, letting you negate any effect no matter what you discard as cost. Because of this you should always prioritize setting Rebirth of Parshath and keeping Ultimate Providence on hand if you have both. The downside is you need to have a Counter Trap on hand and also pay a ton of LP to activate it, so keep this in mind when you set Rebirth of Parshath. To compensate the heavy cost of activating Rebirth of Parshath you can Special Summon Avenging Knight Parshath, putting a good beater onboard for free.

Ultimate Providence
Ultimate Providence
Counter Trap
Crimson Kingdom [R]
When a Spell/Trap Card, or monster effect, is activated: Discard the same type of card (Monster, Spell, or Trap); negate the activation, and if you do, destroy that card.

If you don't open with Rebirth of Parshath or don't have the LP necessary to use it, set Ultimate Providence. While not as versatile as Rebirth of Parshath, it can still let you negate any of your opponent's effects if you have the right type of discard. (i.e. discard a monster to negate a monster effect)

Other Techs

Monster Reborn
Monster Reborn
Normal Spell
5th Anniversary Campaign [UR]
Target 1 monster in either player's Graveyard; Special Summon it.

Discard cards using Karma Cut or 004 so you can revive it with this. Most of the Deskbot monsters have on-summon effects, so it's worth it to bring this.

Machine Duplication
Machine Duplication
Normal Spell
Bandit Keith [SR]
Target 1 Machine-Type monster you control with 500 or less ATK; Special Summon up to 2 monsters from your Deck with the same name as that monster.

Useful when you get it very early in the duel since you need all 3 monster zones, but it can be an issue if you have the field spell, 002, or any kind of ATK increasing effect, which will make Machine Duplication unusable.

Karma Cut
Karma Cut
Normal Trap
Arena of Sanctuary [SR]
Selection Box Vol. 02 Mini [SR]
Discard 1 card, then target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; banish that target, then banish all cards with the same name as that monster from your opponent's Graveyard.

Banishing a monster prevents certain monster effects that activate in the graveyard, and the added bonus of banishing same named monsters works out against certain matchups.

I run this deck and it is so much fun to get deskbots tonthe graveyard I run dark core and it stops yubel in its tracks had a person surrender who was using yubel lol. Also run powerframes to boost your cards to gain more attack.

I tried throwing in some good synchros for this deck when I first played it, but they feel like a waste most of the time since the base cards can hold their own. My advice: get stuff like Mist Wurm or Stardust Dragon that are more there for effect support then actual damage. If its machine type, all the better.

Anonymous Reply
You can run Ally of Justice Cyclone Reader as a lvl 3 machine tuner that can clear backrow, then use it to go in to lvl 6 or 7 synchros like Stardust Charge Warrior or Samurai Destroyer. Samurai Destroyer is especially good as it floats into one of your synchro materials if it leaves the field due to a card effect.
Anonymous
One of the many, tragically overlooked decks in the game, purely because it came out in the same pack as Synchro Samurai. Just like with my Aquactress and Aromage decks, its very easy to bait out moves from people who aren't paying attention, especially since no one plays this at high levels.
Too bad half the actual deck is never going to see duel links. Doomed is the day Konami adds Pendulum Summoning.

Guys, see that weakness about 004 when you have all your 009 in the graveyard and you can't boost its atk anymore ? Here's a tip for you : Use the jar of avarice to put 009 back in the deck, use 004's effect and get a bonus card. Win-win situation.
<< Anonymous

The thing is you must had 5 cards already in grave first to activate avarice

You can also use Earthshattering Event (each time a card is sent to the graveyard from the deck, shuffle a card from the graveyard into the deck), tends to be useful if you get it on the field alongside 004 plus it's continuous

Playing deskbots, I feel like no one knows how to read card effects. Most of my wins are because people are lazy.
I'm going on a specific strategy to win, but somehow, my opponents are always attacking my 004 and i can OTK them the next turn with 009...

Also, really great deck for F2P. Most cards are easy to get and machine supports are everywhere.

I once saw a replay where an AG player is so idiot, he attacked 004 when he could have attacked a 009 in defense position and inflicted huge piercing damage with his Ancient Gear Golem.

And he attacked 004, even after being made aware 004 can boost its own ATK!

Sometimes you just can't counter everything.

But I guess you can use Forbidden Chalice to negate Yubel forms' anti/reflect damage effect, and try to OTK the Yubel player.
<< Anonymous

Add Gravity Blaster to your deck and equip it to 009. That's my way to defeat Yubel and it's pretty good even against other decks.
Plus, if you manage to get your 009 to 4000+ LP, you'll do a nice OTK.
If you play against Deskbots, you need to block that combo before the battle phase, else 009 will block every kind of effect until it attacked.

Any generic staple ones, I guess. Things like Econ, a copy of Canadia/Floodgate, or WoD and Windstorm of Etaqua, since without Limit Reverse, you have to make your monster survive instead of being able to revive them.

Windstorm > Pulse Mines, if you just want to run a copy.

Most of the time, you won't use Pulse Mines until after your opponent summon something, sometimes you won't even activate Pulse Mines until Battle Phase, in that case, Pulse Mines is just a worse Windstorm since it also requires you to control a Machine.

Pulse mines is good against OTK deck that uses backrow removal before starting their swarm.

It's personal preference of course.
