Pros

High attack monster that can be special summoned.

Cons

Strict special summoning condition.
Since it's a level 7 monster, if you can't special summon it, you will need 2 tributes to tribute summon. Can potentially make it a dead card in your hand against opponents that don't use monsters with a monster destroying effect.

Tips

Dragon's Rebirth

Since it can be pretty difficult to special summon it under its own condition, it can be special summoned much easier using cards like Dragon's Rebirth, which will only make him into a high attack beater with 2800 attack (3000 if you use Kaiba's Peak Performance).

The other cards in the structure box can somewhat help with using Dragonic Knight more effectively. Lighten the Load is good if you have multiple level 7 or higher monsters in your deck to prevent some dead hand. Trial and Tribulation and Strike of the Monarchs is if you plan on playing by tribute summoning monsters. Castle of Dragon Souls is mainly for a dragon deck, which can also special summon a banished Dragon-type monster.

His effect didn’t activate when my opponent used man-eater, is that ok, or is this a glitch?

If you attacked and destroyed Man-Eater Bug, its effect activates during the Damage Step, a period where you cannot summon monsters.

Complicated? Do you mean situational? Considering that effect monsters with destruction effects are flourishing, this card should see some use... though I never seem to have room for this card.

yea, if the destruction effect activates in Damage Step you can't respond to it with Dragonic Knight

Bugged, never works. Have had multiple cards destroyed by monster effects and this card's effect never ques.

You know, THIS fellow right here might be a REALLY good tool vs lvl 40 Bakura's Man Eater Bug.

I don't get how this card is supposed to work. Nothing seems to trigger it

I've used this card in my deck in several hundred games and I've managed to get it special summoned exactly once.

Let's answer some questions: Gravekeeper? Nope. Keith's dragons? Nope. 4 starred ladybug? Nope. Any spell/trap effect? Nope.

I can't remember exactly which card triggered the effect; I think it was an insect type, but I might be wrong. It wasn't anything used in any of the common pvp decks and it very specifically said on the card "target and destroy one enemy monster" as its effect (I think it was it's on death effect).

Dragonic Knights' effect says "when the effect of an opponents monster is activated that targets and destroys a card(s) you control", so it should therefore activate if one card or more cards are destroyed, whether it be monster or spell/trap.

4 star doesn't target
Barrel Dragon Targets first, tosses coins 2nd, then destroys.
That 2nd phase prevents Dragonic's effect from applying as they need to be targeted, then destroyed. If his effect read "if" not "when" then it would've worked.

Dragonic Knight doesn't work with Barrel Dragon because it isn't guaranteed to destroy a monster. (The same reason you can't use Destruction Jammer on it.) The card needs to target and be guaranteed to destroy it for Dragonic Knight to be used. (Oh, Barrel Dragon's coin flip and destruction happen simultaneously anyway, not that that has any effect on a Quick Effect being chained to it.)

Ok, so most of the card effects that target and destroy a card won't trigger this card's effect... so, isn't it easier to build a list of cards that can actually trigger this card special summon effect? I've never been able to special summon this monster with his effect, so I can't even start the list, but if anyone here could start it, sure sooner or later we all will be able to use this card better.
