“Steelswarm” is an archetype of mostly DARK Fiend-Type monsters with 0 DEF whose main strategy revolves around Tribute Summoning. When they are Tribute Summoned by Tributing a monster(s) of their own archetype, “Steelswarm” monsters gain various effects that can range from Special Summoning to removal.
When Stygian Security is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard, it allows you to Special Summon a Level 1 Fiend-Type monster directly from your Deck.
Use Stygian Security’s effect to Special Summon Steelswarm Scout. Even if your opponent destroys Steelswarm Scout, at the start of your Main Phase, you will be able to Special Summon it back from the Graveyard.
In order to be able to activate this effect, you must control no Spell/Trap Cards and, if Steelswarm Scout is Special Summoned this way, you cannot Special Summon any other monsters for the rest of the turn.
When tributed to summon a Steelswarm monster, Steelswarm Caller special summons a level 4 or lower Steelswarm monster from your deck. Steelswarm Genome counts as 2 tributes for the summoning of a Steelswarm monster, but has terrible stats and must be tributed into Caucastag as soon as you can. You can combo by tributing Caller for Steelswarm Mantis to swarm your field with monsters. With Caller’s effect special summon Steelswarm Genome from your deck to prepare for Caucastag’s summoning. If summoned after this combo, it might be preferable to activate Caucastag’s backrow destruction effect.
When it’s Tribute Summoned by Tributing a “Steelswarm” monster (Steelswarm Cell or Steelswarm Scout), by paying 1000 Life Points, Steelswarm Moth allows you to target up to two cards on your opponent’s side of the field and return them to their hand, whereas Steelswarm Girastag allows you to target a card your opponent controls, send it to the Graveyard and then gain 1000 Life Points.
Both Steelswarm Moth and Steelswarm Girastag have the ability to remove from the field cards your opponent controls without destroying them; their effects can be used to get rid of problematic monsters such as Legendary Six Samurai - Shi En and/or your opponent’s back row, enabling OTKs and/or slowly gaining control of the field.
While it’s true that cards such as Arrivalrivals and Escalation of the Monarchs can be played in order to be able to Tribute Summon Steelswarm Moth and Steelswarm Girastag during your opponent’s turn to disrupt their plays, they usually end up losing a lot of value whenever you are not on the play because of Shi En’s ability to negate their activation.
It should be noted that Steelswarm Moth and Steelswarm Girastag’s effects can be used to return Shi En to the Extra Deck or send it to the Graveyard and enable
Restart Can be used only once after starting hands are dealt. Reveal and redraw your starting hand. Your first Draw will be skipped if you use this Skill.
This Skill has synergy with both Steelswarm Moth and Cosmic Cyclone. You can run a Glossy copy of Steelswarm Cell or Steelswarm Moth / Steelswarm Girastag to be able to draw exactly the card that you need at the right time.
Both Steelswarm Moth and Steelswarm Girastag’s effect target your opponent’s cards, so “Hazy Flame” and, during the turn they were Summoned, “Ancient Gear” monsters (under Ancient Gear Fortress) can be problematic for this deck.
Honestly, there's a lot of archetypes that are good in one, bad in the other, or good in both, or bad in both. Allies of Justice are bad in both, for example. Aliens and Hazy are good here, but bad in the TCG/OCG. Lightsworn is good in the TCG/OCG, but fairly bad here.
Started from this: https://youtu.be/c-CGuHQcTKI
Tweaked based on what I faced.
Dropped 1 Mantis, 1 Ripples, 1 Tool and Arrivalrivals. Added 1 sphere, 2 Gyokkou and Card Advance.
I've hoovered alot between 21 and 22, haven't tried Monstermorph evo yet, but you could do some shennenigans with that and Hercules. It's a fun deck wich can dominate fairly easy or brick so hard.
i made a deck similar to the one above, maybe a little better and i can tell ya that no one can beat me even if my hand is bad, only if its so bad that i cant play noithing i can lose but its very rare because every card goes with another perfectly
Try minimizing Tributed monster, and instead used Heavy Starter
Try using the recover 0 dark def
You would need another Level 5 or higher monster with a different name for that Skill. Caucastag, Longhorn and Hercules require 2 or 3 Tributes and Mantis doesn't interact well with Scout. Moreover, both Cell and Scout can only be Tributed to Summon a "Steelswarm" monster, so you can't even run a monster that is not part of the archetype.
Also, i could say that guarantee to have tribute monster is better than have a chance to have all the card in hand is either tribute monster(which is high due to 6 tribute monster in 20 deck) or no tribute monster
That's why you can take some hit and added Mantis to improve consistance
It's brick like Donald Trump face, tribute ilswarm archetype are trash until XYZ come.
Doesn't Shi En only negate activations? Arrivalrivals is out on the front of disrupting Shi En sure but Escalation is a continuous trap don't you just activate it (not necessarily use it's effect) as soon as you see the potential for Shi En? (If they have Shi En already you're kinda past the point of disruption)
I'm quite possibly mistaken especially since the thing I remember clearest not getting negated is sending dojo/united to the grave. But you could still use it before Shi En gets brought out.
You are correct: Shi En is only able to negate the activation of a Spell/Trap Card, so, if Escalation is already face-up on your side of the field, you can safely use its effect to Tribute Summon Moth or Girastag during their Main or Battle Phase.
Sure, if you are going 1st, you can Set Escalation and prevent your opponent from Summoning Shi En by bouncing their monsters back into hand with Moth or by sending Fuma to the GY with Girastag, but, if you are going 2nd, the Trap Card instantly becomes a lot worse. I would rather run Scout honestly, but I do also like the idea of using the effects of your monsters during your opponent's turn.
nah its not bad but it has many mistakes, like that sentinel and more caucastages than genomes, also if you want to be a steelswarm master you MUST have the escalation of the monarchs card because its just perfect for steelswarm deck. but keep buying crusaders battlegrounds deck and you will become better ;)
