Skill changes

Announced ahead of time, certain skills are expected to be changed on Jul 18. Further details are explained as to why the affected skills are going to be rebalanced from the in-game news.

Transcendent Crystals

CurrentCan be used from turn 3 and onward by sending 1 to 3 cards from your hand to the Graveyard. Choose the same number of "Crystal Beast" monster(s) from your Deck as the number of cards you sent from your hand to Graveyard, and place it/them in your Spell/Trap Zone as. This Skill can only be used once per turn, and twice per Duel.
UpdateCan be used from turn 3 and onward by sending 1 to 3 cards from your hand to the Graveyard. Choose the same number of "Crystal Beast" monster(s) from your Deck as the number of cards you sent from your hand to Graveyard, and place it/them in your Spell/Trap Zone.
If begin the Duel with a Deck that has 7 or more "Crystal Beast" monsters, you can use this Skill regardless of the current turn.
This Skill can only be used once per turn, and twice per Duel.

Iron Call

CurrentCan be used on your next turn after 'Iron Call' is activated, instead of conducting your normal draw. Return 1 'Iron Call' from your Graveyard to your hand. This Skill can only be used once per Duel.
UpdateCan only be used the next turn after you have activated 'Iron Call'. Return 1 Machine-Type monster from your hand to your Deck. Then, return 1 'Iron Call' from your Graveyard to your hand. This Skill can only be used once per Duel.

Cubic Seeds

CurrentIn the beginning of the Duel, add 3 "Vijam the Cubic Seed" to your Deck.
This Skill can only be used if you begin the duel with a Deck/Extra Deck that contain no cards other than "Cubic" cards.
UpdateIn the beginning of the Duel, add 3 "Vijam the Cubic Seed" to your Deck.
This Skill can only be used if you begin the duel with a Deck/Extra Deck that contain no cards other than "Cubic" cards. In addition, the number of Spell/Trap Cards that are not "Cubic" cards must be 6 or lower.

Master of Destiny

CurrentWhen you toss a coin, the results will always be heads for the first 3 coin tosses.
This Skill can only activate if you begin the duel with a deck that has 7 or more cards with different names that require coin tosses.
UpdateWhen you toss a coin, the results will always be heads for the first 3 coin tosses. Your first draw will be skipped.
This Skill can only activate if you begin the duel with a deck that has 7 or more cards with different names that require coin tosses. (Extra Deck does not count.)

What Grows in the Graveyard

CurrentBegin the Duel with 1 "Dark Verger" in your Graveyard.
UpdateCan be used when your Life Points decrease by 1500. Add 1 "Dark Verger" to your Graveyard from outside of your Deck.
This Skill can only be used once per Duel.

See You Later!

CurrentSelect 1 monster you control and who you are the original owner of. Return the selected monster to the hand. This Skill can only be used once per Duel.
UpdateCan be used when your Life Points decrease by 1500. Select 1 monster you control and who you are the original owner of. Return the selected monster to the hand. This Skill can only be used once per Duel.

Balance

CurrentYour starting hand will reflect the card balance of your deck. This Skill will not activate unless you have at least 6 of each type of card (Monster, Spell, and Trap) in your Deck.
UpdateYour starting hand will reflect the card balance of your deck. This Skill will not activate unless you have at least 6 of each type of card (Monster, Spell, and Trap) in your Deck. You cannot Special Summon or activate monster effects until the end of the Main Phase of your first turn.

Restart

CurrentCan be used only once after starting hands are dealt. Redraw your starting hand. Your first Draw will be skipped if you use this Skill.
This Skill will not activate if your Deck does not contain 7 or more copies each of Spell and Trap cards.
UpdateCan be used only once after starting hands are drawn. Reduce your starting hand by 1, and then redraw your hand. You cannot Special Summon or activate monster effects until the end of the Main Phase of your first turn.

Spell Specialist

CurrentIf your Deck contains 5 or more Spell Cards with different names, you will have improved chances of having a Spell Card in your starting hand.
UpdateIf your Deck contains 5 or more Spell Cards with different names, you will have improved chances of having a Spell Card in your starting hand. You cannot Special Summon or activate monster effects until the end of the Main Phase of your first turn.

Trap Layer

CurrentIf your Deck contains 5 or more Trap Cards with different names, you will have improved chances of having a Trap Card in your starting hand.
UpdateIf your Deck contains 5 or more Trap Cards with different names, you will have improved chances of having a Trap Card in your starting hand. You cannot Special Summon or activate monster effects until the end of the Main Phase of your first turn.

My Monster Cards

CurrentIf your Deck contains 6 or more Level 4 or below Monster Cards with different names, you will have improved chances of having a Level 4 Monster Card in your starting hand.
UpdateIf your Deck contains 6 or more Level 4 or below Monster Cards with different names, you will have improved chances of having a Level 4 Monster Card in your starting hand. You cannot Special Summon or activate monster effects until the end of the Main Phase of your first turn.

Heavy Starter

CurrentIf your Deck has 3 or more Level 5 or higher monsters with different names, you will have improved chance of having a Level 5 or higher monster in your starting hand.
UpdateIf your Deck has 3 or more Level 5 or higher monsters with different names, you will have improved chance of having a Level 5 or higher monster in your starting hand. You cannot Special Summon or activate monster effects until the end of the Main Phase of your first turn.

Time Passage

CurrentSelect 1 'Fortune Lady' monster you control; its level is increased by 3 until the end of the turn. This Skill can only be used once per turn and twice per Duel.
UpdateIncrease the Level of 1 "Fortune Lady" monster you control by 3 until the End Phase. This skill can only be used once per turn.

Emergency Call

CurrentCan be used when your Life Point is 2000 or below. Reveal 1 "Elemental HERO" monster in your hand, and add 1 "Elemental HERO" monster with the same Type and Attribute, but with different name.
UpdateCan be used turn 5 and onward or if your Life Points are at 2000 or below. Reveal 1 "Elemental HERO" monster in your hand. Then, add 1 "Elemental HERO" monster with a different name from your Deck to your hand. This Skill can only be used once per Duel.

Ready for Victory

CurrentCan be used the turn you control 2 monsters with the same Level. During this turn, the ATK of Xyz Monsters you control increases by 500.
This Skill can only be used once per Duel.
UpdateCan be used if you control 2 or more monsters with the same Level. During this turn, the ATK of Xyz Monsters you control increases by 500.
This Skill can only be used once per Duel.

Ultimate Earthbound Immortal

CurrentCan be used if you control "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca" on your Field. Instead of conducting your normal draw, reduce your opponent's Life Points to 1 and skip straight to your End Phase.
UpdateCan be used turn 5 and onward if you control "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca". During your Draw Phase, instead of conducting your normal draw, reduce your opponent's Life Points to 1 and skip straight to your End Phase.

Restart

Switcheroo

Bandit

CurrentCan be used if your Life Points are at 1500 or below. Select and take control of 1 card Set in your opponent's Spell & Trap Zone. This skill can only be used once per Duel.
UpdateCan be used if your Life Points are at 1500 or below. Return 1 card from your hand to your Deck. Then, select 1 Set Card in your opponent's Spell/Trap Zone and steal it.
This skill can only be used once per Duel.

Shadow Game

CurrentAt the end of their respective turn, each player will lose LP equal to "100" times the number of cards in their own graveyard.
UpdateAt the end of the turn, both players lose Life Points equal to the number of cards in their graveyard times 100 (max 400).
This Skill will not applied to a player with 1000 or less Life Points.

Access Denied

CurrentCan be used if your LP drops below 1000. Until the end of your opponent's next turn, neither you or your opponent can normal summon or special summon effect monsters, or activate monsters effects. This skill can be used once per duel.
UpdateCan be used from your 5th turn and onward, when your have 1000 or less Life Points. Until the end of your opponent's next turn, neither you or your opponent can Summon an Effect Monster nor activate the effect of their monsters. This skill can be used once per duel.

Ojama Overflow

CurrentCan be used after your Life Points are at 500 or below. Special Summon Ojama Tokens to all available Monster Card Zones on your opponent's side of the Field. This skill can only be used once per Duel.
UpdateCan be used from your 5th turn and onward, when your have 500 Life Points or less. Play as many as copies of "Ojama Tokens" as you can on your opponent's side of the Field in Defense Position. This skill can only be used once per Duel.

Show of Nightmares

CurrentCan be activated if you have 3 or more Spell cards with different name in your Graveyard. Randomly add 1 spell card in your graveyard to your hand. This skill can only be used once per duel.
UpdateCan be used if you have 3 or more Spell cards in your Graveyard. Add 1 Randomly Spell Card from your graveyard to your hand. Then, return 1 card from your hand to your Deck.
This skill can only be used once per duel.

Moth to the Flame

CurrentTurn counts are double-speed for any "Petit Moth" with "Cocoon of Evolution" equipped on your side of the field.
UpdateThe speed of the turn count for "Petit Moth" you control equipped with "Cocoon of Evolution" goes twice as fast. In addition, if you control "Petit Moth" equipped with "Cocoon of Evolution", add 1 following cards to your hand from outside of your Deck (in the order listed):
Larvae Moth
Great Moth
Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth

Afterlife Lockdown

CurrentUntil the end of the turn, if a "Cubic" monster you control destroys an opponent's monster in battle, shuffle the destroyed monster into its original owner's Deck instead of sending it to the Graveyard.
This Skill can only be used once per Duel.
UpdateCan be used when you control a "Cubic" monster. During this turn, opponent monsters destroyed in battle will return to their owner's Deck instead of their graveyard.
This Skill can only be used once per turn and twice per Duel.

Red-Eyes Fusion

CurrentCan be used when you have 2400 or less Life Points. Return 1 "Red-Eyes" card from your hand to your Deck and add 1 "Red-Eyes Fusion" from your Deck to your hand. If your Life Points are exactly 2400, you can return 1 "Red-Eyes B. Dragon" from your graveyard to your Deck instead.
This Skill can only be used once per Duel.
UpdateCan be used if your Life Points is 2400 or below. Return 1 "Red-Eyes" card from your hand or 1 "Red-Eyes Black Dragon" from your graveyard to your Deck, and add 1 "Red-Eyes Fusion" from your Deck to your hand.
This Skill can only be used once per Duel.

Draw Sense: Spell/Trap

CurrentCan be used each time your Life Points decrease by 1000. In the Draw Phase, instead of doing a normal draw, draw a random Spell/Trap card.
UpdateCan be used each time your Life Points decrease by 1000. In the Draw Phase, instead of doing a normal draw, draw a random Spell/Trap card.
This Skill will only activate if you begin the duel with a Deck that has 3 or more Spell Cards with different names.

Cyber Style

CurrentCan be used each time your Life Points are at 3000 or below. Play 1 "Proto-Cyber Dragon" on from outside of your Deck for every 1000 Life Points below 4000. "Proto-Cyber Dragon" played with this Skill cannot be Tributed or used as a material except when for Fusion Summoning. This skill can nly be used once per Duel.
UpdateCan be used each time your Life Points are at 2000 or below. Play up to 2 "Proto-Cyber Dragon" in Attack Position from outside of your Deck.
If your Life Points are at 1000 or below, you can play up to 3 "Proto-Cyber Dragon" in Attack Position from outside of your Deck.
"Proto-Cyber Dragon" that played with this Skill cannot be Tributed, and while they are face-up on the field, you cannot Special Summon except Fusion Summoning, nor attack except with Fusion Monsters.
This skill can only be used once per Duel.

Tuning

CurrentCan be used each time your LP decrease by 1500. Instead of conducting your normal draw, draw 1 "Synchron" tuner monster of your choice. Then, send the top card of your deck to the Graveyard. This skill can be used once per Duel.
UpdateCan be used each time your LP decrease by 1000.
Instead of conducting your normal draw, draw 1 "Synchron" tuner monster of your choice from your Deck. Then, send the top card of your deck to the Graveyard.
If you began the duel with Three or more "Junk" Effect Monsters in your Deck, add 1 "Speed Warrior" from outside of your Deck to your Graveyard. This skill can be used once per Duel.

Ultimate Dragons

CurrentAt the beginning of the Duel, add "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon"and "Neo Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon" to your Extra Deck.
UpdateAt the beginning of the Duel, add "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon", "Neo Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon", and "Blue-Eyes Twin Burst Dragon" to your Extra Deck. Can be used turn 3 and onward by revealing 2 "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" in your hand to opponent. Add 1 "Polymerization" to your hand from outside of your Deck. This Skill can only be used once per Duel.

CurrentIf you had 4000 or more Life Points at the start of that turn, you Life Points will not fall below 1 for one time only. This Skill will only activate once per Duel.

Baggy Sleeves

CurrentIf one of your monsters of Level 5 or higher is destroyed in battle, in your next Draw Phase a normal draw gives you 2 cards.
UpdateIf one of your monsters of Level 7 or higher is destroyed in battle, in your next Draw Phase a normal draw gives you 2 cards. The Skill can only activate once per Duel.

No Mortal Can Resist

CurrentCan be used when your Life points are at least 1000 less than the opponent's. All monsters in the opponent's Graveyard changes to Skull Servants (Zombie / DARK / Level 1 / ATK: 300 / DEF: 200). This skill can only be used once per turn.
UpdateCan be used when your Life points are at least 2000 less than the opponent's. All monsters in the opponent's Graveyard changes to Skull Servants (Zombie / DARK / Level 1 / ATK: 300 / DEF: 200).

Just waiting for Konami to straight-up delete Restart and Balance from the game. They've nerfed those two abilities so many times over the years that it probably won't be long until both skills are completely unusable. Even then, they'll probably find some reason to nerf them further. Not saying this due to preference for any deck. I just think it's silly how often these two generic skills keep getting nerfed.

Huhhh?? Really!! dont included aroma in your trash deck. I play aroma with draw sense spell trap. Even without proper skill hardly bricks dumbass. Every 7 duels 1 time bricks

Does this really hurt aroma? I mean if you open with rosemary you just activate gardening/garden, set traps, normal summon and that's all

Actually it benefits rosemary, even if you gain lp she won't switch herself to defense, oh an jazmine extra summon effect doesn't activate, it is a continuous effect

Gamea got the updated version slightly wrong in the above article.

"that contain no cards other than Cubic cards" should have been "that contains no monsters other than Cubic monsters" now.

The total restriction now only applies to monsters, because of the last part:

"In addition, the number of Spell/Trap Cards that are not Cubic cards must be 6 or lower."

The last part means you can run non-Cubic spell/trap cards, you just cannot exceed 6 cards on those.

Useless nerf of trap layer, heavy starter and restart.

Onomatopia, territory of sharks, level dublication left untouched.
None in konami actually plays this game.

Balance is one thing since we pretty much saw it coming. But dang, what did the other consistency skills do to deserve this? It's not like they were making a big impact. I can't even remember the last time I saw anyone use Heavy Starter or Restart as it is. Guess they want us all roughly in the same boat now.

I don't know why the heck they add "extra deck does not count" on Master of Destiny.

Sounds useless, since nobody ever actually use the extra deck when running Desperado deck. Also I don't think we even have ANY extra deck monster that makes use of coin flips.

Really, the last bit should have been "You cannot activate Set cards during the turn you use this Skill". So no Karma Cut or Super Buddy on the same turn.

So this time they nerfed everything except Onomatoplay that is the most unfair skill in the game, no other deck can choose 2 cards of their hand and it hasn't any lp or turn number restriction. Good job Konami!

Stall decks + Shadow game were really annoying. It was boring to duel someone with this deck so the game is actually less boring now.

At this point konami should just forbid the use of skills in pvp; look how many skills have become useless, with so many decks there'll always be some kind of way to abuse a skill. Tomorrow may as well be balance the one getting unusable.

Basically, if you have to play 7 traps and 7 spells, you can already use balance and it will give you a more consistent hand than restart without the loss of the extra card drawing next turn
